Summary
Saint John Preschool is a warm, play-based early childhood program that nurtures curiosity, kindness, and the social-emotional growth of every child within a caring and supportive community.
We are seeking a warm, caring, creative, and experienced Head Teacher for our 2-Year-Old Class for the 2026–2027 school year. This position begins in late August 2026 and concludes in late May 2027, with the opportunity to work an additional two weeks in June during our summer camp program.
The schedule for this position is Monday through Wednesday 8:45 - 12:15. The following school year, this position will go to five days per week.
There is also the opportunity to add 2–4 afternoons per week (12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.) to the position. Afternoon responsibilities may include assisting with our Lunch Bunch program as needed and/or serving as an assistant teacher during our Pre-K extended-day program, based on the needs of the preschool.

Duties
- Planning and implementing a developmentally appropriate early childhood curriculum
- Fostering a nurturing, values-based, and engaging classroom environment
- Communicating effectively with families and colleagues
- Supervising and collaborating with an assistant teacher
- Attending staff meetings
- Attending some school events
- Conducting family conferences twice a year and completing written reports for each child
Requirements
- CDA or Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field preferred
- Prior experience teaching in a preschool or early childhood setting
- Strong understanding of child development and early learning practices
- Successful completion of a background check
- VIRTUS training (required; can be completed after hire)
- CPR/First Aid and Medication Administration certification preferred; training will be provided in September if not currently certified
- Must be able to write clear, well-organized, and professional reports
- Send monthly newsletters including photos
