About This Role
The Teacher plays a pivotal role in shaping a cohesive teaching team, streamlining curriculum coordination, and overseeing daily classroom operations. To create an engaging and safe environment, Teachers must be attuned to children's cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development. Effective communication with children and adults alike is crucial, as is guiding teacher assistants and resolving parental concerns.
What You'll Do
- Develop classroom activities based on developmentally appropriate practices and early learning standards, ensuring a comprehensive implementation of the educational curriculum.
- Lead by example, empowering the teaching team through modeling and coaching to achieve success.
- Design and execute individual and group age-appropriate activities to foster social, cognitive, and emotional growth in children.
- Maintain regular and open communication with parents through informal discussions, progress reports, and parent-teacher conferences.
- Ensure all center policies and state regulations are strictly adhered to.
- Establish and maintain a healthy classroom environment, prioritizing hygiene, cleanliness, and the safety and security of children.
- Supervise teacher assistants and classroom volunteers, ensuring they adhere to planned activities, hygiene, and safety standards.
- Accurately maintain records, forms, and files.
- Prioritize continuous quality improvement through regular personal professional development planning.
Requirements
- Must possess a minimum of 2 years of professional childcare experience.
- Requires strong oral and written communication skills, as well as basic computer skills.
- A high energy level and the ability to collaborate well with others (staff, children, and parents) are essential, fostering a team-oriented environment.
- A solid understanding of child development is necessary.
- Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification is mandatory.
- Must successfully clear a full background check and pass a health screening.
- Ability to take frequent walks, use hands and fingers, handle objects, tools or controls, talk to and hear voices at many levels is required. May also be necessary to kneel, bend, squat, or crawl.
- Specific vision ability is required, including the ability to see up close and up to a certain distance, see colors, have peripheral vision, and depth perception.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills are essential.
Nice to Have
Nice to have, though not required:
- CDA Certification.
- Associate Degree in early childhood education or a related field of study.
