About St. HOPE Public Schools

At St. HOPE Public Schools, we believe every child deserves access to an exceptional education — regardless of zip code, background, or circumstance.

Founded in 2003 in the heart of Oak Park, Sacramento, St. HOPE Public Schools was built on a bold vision: to create a high-performing public school system that prepares scholars not only for college, but for leadership, purpose, and impact in their communities and beyond. Today, our network includes PS7 Elementary School, PS7 Middle School, and Sacramento Charter High School, serving scholars from TK through 12th grade.

Our mission remains clear: to graduate self-motivated, critical-thinking leaders who are committed to lifelong learning, service, and excellence. But at St. HOPE, this mission is more than words on paper — it is lived out every day in classrooms, hallways, athletic fields, performances, and community spaces across our campuses.

We are unapologetically committed to closing the opportunity gap for Black and Brown scholars and ensuring that every student has access to the rigorous, joyful, and affirming education they deserve. Our schools have consistently outperformed district and state averages, demonstrating what is possible when high expectations are paired with exceptional teaching, strong relationships, and unwavering belief in students.

Our results speak to that commitment:

  • Sacramento Charter High School was recognized by the California Charter Schools Association as the highest-performing high school for Black students in California.

  • PS7 and Sacramento Charter High School were named California Education Champions for their exceptional outcomes with predominantly African American student populations.

  • PS7 has been recognized as a California Distinguished School, a Title I Achievement Award winner, and a federal Blue Ribbon School nominee.

  • Sacramento Charter High School has consistently achieved extraordinary college readiness outcomes, including 100% of graduates meeting UC/CSU entrance requirements — significantly outperforming district and state averages, including for scholars with IEPs.

At St. HOPE, we believe teachers change lives. We know the power of excellent instruction and the transformational impact that strong teaching can have over time. That belief drives our commitment to coaching, collaboration, professional growth, and instructional excellence across every campus.

We are building schools where:

  • Instructional time is sacred.

  • Relationships matter deeply.

  • High expectations and high support go hand in hand.

  • Staff collaborate relentlessly in service of scholar success.

  • Adults are united around a shared mission and vision.

  • Scholars are prepared not only academically, but socially and emotionally for the future they deserve.

Just as importantly, we believe school should be a place of joy, belonging, and opportunity. From athletics and arts to electives, clubs, family engagement, and community events, we strive to provide scholars with a well-rounded educational experience that affirms who they are and expands who they can become.

St. HOPE is also deeply rooted in the revitalization of the Oak Park community. As part of the larger St. HOPE family of nonprofits, our work extends beyond schools into economic development, arts, culture, and community empowerment. Landmarks such as the 40 Acres Art and Culture Center, the Guild Theater, Underground Books, Old Soul Co., and Fixins Soul Kitchen reflect our belief that strong schools and strong communities go hand in hand.

While we are proud of what we have accomplished, we believe the best is still ahead. We are entering a new chapter focused on excellence, alignment, accountability, and transformational outcomes for scholars.

We are looking for mission-driven educators, leaders, and staff members who believe in the potential of our scholars, embrace high expectations, and are ready to do the work necessary to build one of the finest urban public school systems in the nation.

This work is not easy — but it is meaningful, urgent, and life-changing.

Our scholars deserve nothing less.
