We are seeking a CT SCAN TECHNOLOGIST to become a part of our team! You will be responsible for conducting diagnostic computed tomography (CT) examinations in accordance with physician orders and established protocols. This role ensures patient safety, comfort, and confidentiality while maintaining compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards. The technologist collaborates with radiologists, physicians, and healthcare staff to support accurate and timely diagnostic outcomes.
Responsibilities
Patient Safety
- Prepare and position patients for CT procedures according to established protocols and physician specifications.
- Verify patient identity, medical history, and procedure consent.
- Explain exam procedures to patients and address questions or concerns to ensure comfort and cooperation.
- Administer contrast media as required, observing all safety and allergy-prevention procedures.
- Monitor patients during and after procedures to ensure their safety and well-being.
Technical Duties
- Operate CT scanners and related equipment to capture high-quality diagnostic images.
- Adjust technical factors and imaging parameters based on patient size, anatomy, and diagnostic requirements.
- Evaluate images for diagnostic quality and completeness before releasing for interpretation.
- Utilize PACS and RIS systems to store, retrieve, and manage imaging data.
- Maintain cleanliness and readiness of the CT suite and related work areas.
Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with radiologists and ordering providers to clarify scan protocols or discuss findings as needed.
- Communicate effectively with nursing, registration, and support staff to coordinate patient flow.
- Support cross-training and team assistance across other imaging modalities as appropriate.
Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Follow all ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) radiation safety principles and protective measures.
- Ensure compliance with facility policies, HIPAA, and regulatory standards (e.g., ACR, The Joint Commission).
- Participate in quality control testing and equipment performance evaluations.
- Document all procedures, doses, and patient information accurately in the electronic medical record.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
- Current ARRT certification in Radiography (R) and Computed Tomography (CT) required (or eligible).
- Current state licensure (if applicable).
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a CT Technologist preferred.
- Experience in a hospital or outpatient imaging center environment is a plus
- Proficiency in operating Siemens, GE, or Philips CT scanners (facility-dependent).
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, radiation physics, and cross-sectional imaging techniques.
- Excellent patient care and communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and adherence to safety protocols.
Working Conditions
- Frequent standing, lifting, and positioning of patients and equipment.
- Exposure to ionizing radiation and infectious materials; protective measures provided.
- Willing to travel to the Greenspoint and Northwest locations.
