St. Francis International School in Silver Spring Maryland is hiring a Dean of Students for the 2026-27 school year.
This is a full time (12 month) role and will report to the Principal.
The salary range for the position is $65,000 to $85,000 with excellent benefits.

The Dean of Students is one of the educational leaders of the school as a member of the school leadership team
The Dean of Students manages the code of conduct and behavior programs for the school and models how to establish strong, mutually respectful relationships with students and families. This position requires a visible presence in all areas of the school, including school events, and is responsible for maintaining a safe and affirming environment for students in the School.
The Dean of Student's essential duties and responsibilities are as follows:
Leadership
- Support faculty by engaging in professional development, including seeking PD relevant to teacher goals, assessment results, and student needs. Deliver PD for teachers as needed.
- Supervises and oversees recess and lunch monitoring procedures and guidelines.
- Supports student organizations, extra curricular activities, school assemblies, and other activities outside of the classroom routines.
- Promotes and maintains a positive and effective school climate by ensuring that all interactions with staff, students, parents, and the public at large are prompt, efficient, helpful and friendly.
- Helps set expectations for consistent classroom management procedures for teachers, paraeducators and volunteers. Supports teachers in classroom management improvement as needed during the year.
- Coordinate substitute teacher coverage for planned and unplanned absences, ensuring substitutes are prepared and supported. Maintain emergency substitute plans for faculty and staff. Serve as a substitute teacher or in other school roles when necessary.
Discipline
- Develops and maintains student discipline procedures and records following established guidelines in the school handbook.
- Meets with students who have received disciplinary referrals in order to determine disciplinary and/or remediating actions.
- Communicates and meets with parents regarding student conduct and supports teachers in parent conferences regarding discipline concerns.
- Monitors technology use of students to ensure safe, appropriate use of educational technology and monitors the use of enrolled school devices.
Other Duties
- Works collaboratively to plan and implement safety drills including fire, severe weather, and internal security drills.
- Oversee the budget for Title IV through Montgomery County. Attend meaningful consultation meetings for all relevant Title programs.
Qualifications
The Dean of Students shall be a person who is well-organized, well-rounded, engaging, and who has the ability to interact joyfully with students, parents, and faculty. A relational ministry approach to all interactions with the school community is essential.
Additionally, strong candidates will possess:
- A high aptitude for technology and managing a 1:1 student device environment.
- Ability to exercise excellent judgment and decision making.
- Excellent problem-solving and negotiating skills.
- Bachelor’s degree at minimum; Master’s degree preferred
- Current teaching or administrative certification or the willingness and ability to pursue certification.
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience as a classroom teacher, school administrator or support professional.
- Demonstrated track record of success in teaching and leadership experience in a school setting.
