JOB SUMMARY
The Fabrication Lead will aid the Supervisor in providing leadership within the workforce to promote the achievement of the department goals and objectives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Perform the direct function of the department in such a manner as to provide a role model for the rest of the department. The Fabrication Lead will work above the average pace required to meet the departments goals throughput objectives and will produce exemplary quality.
- Provide encouragement and, when necessary, correction to workers incorrectly, unsafely or unproductively performing work.
- Generate ideas to improve the product and the process, and encourage others to do so.
- Help to train new workers to the department.
- Identify problems and potential problems, and help to solve them quickly and effectively when they arise.
- Promote the 5 Ss concept of order and housekeeping.
- Provide input to the Supervisor in regard to employee performance evaluations for the department.
- Backup for programmer.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
From time to time, the Supervisor may receive assistance from the Fabrication Lead beyond those duties described above, when such assistance does not take more than a small amount of the Fabrication Leaders time away from direct work and where the throughput objectives of the department are not adversely affected.
- Help establish work priorities and plan work.
- Inspect product in the department to ensure quality standards are being met and rework will not be required later.
- Refer problems requiring discipline to the Supervisor.
- Recommend work assignments for specific workers.
- Set up and program machines.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Good working knowledge of all phases of department processes, standards, procedures, and equipment.
- History of exceptional work performance.
- Interest in and ability to lead employees and delegate work assignments.
- Ability to conceptualize work flow and make necessary adjustments mid-stream.
- Understands the concept and importance of continuous improvement.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Physical fitness to perform all job functions of the designated work area, including any and all maintenance and heavy lifting assignments. This includes standing, small tool use, full arm and leg range of motion, bending, lifting, walking, crouching, talking and hearing.
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
