St. Elizabeth Coleman Pregnancy and Adoption Services is seeking a Adoption Specialist at our Northside Indianapolis office. This is an onsite role, Monday – Thursday.
The Adoption Specialist provides information, counseling, support and general assistance to birthparents. The social worker will be an advocate for adoption in interactions with individuals, schools, agencies and community organizations.
The social worker will provide clients with Search and Reunion Services that are available to them.
Responsibilities
Complete intake and initial assessment of needs from prospective clients
Provide Pre and Post adoption counsleing for clients in order to provide information, encouragement and support
Meet with clients regularly during their pregnancy for counseling. Meeting with clients may include offering service to birthfathers and family members of birthparents
Complete progress notes and Assessments with clients
Facilitate the adoption process by obtaining proper legal consents for adoption
Communicate with hospital social workers
Assess clients needs and provide appropriate referrals
Provide information to clients with questions about search, the registry, reunion and issues with adoptee
Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities
Knowledge of providing counseling relating to adoption, grief and loss
Knowledge of adoption issues
Strong organizational ability
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Excellent interpersonal skills
Be able to perform other duties as assigned
Education, Training and experience-
BSW with 5 years experience or MSW is preferred
Adoption experience is preferred
Licenses Social worker preferred
Spanish speaking preferred by not mandatory

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $26.00 - $29.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 35 per week
