Job Summary
Job Summary and Qualifications
As a Scheduler in Women’s Services, you will perform secretarial functions including interacting with patients, visitors, physicians, office staff, and other hospital personnel. You will register new patients, enter patient orders electronically, and keep patient information confidential.
- You will answer phones, take messages, and relay messages
- You will transcribe or enter orders andmaintainchart information
- You will order supplies on a regular basis
- You will keep files orderly and print off patient information as needed
- You will prepare charts for new patients and organize charts for discharged patients, and ensure that charts are complete andaccurate
- You will enter all physician orders, including medication orders
- You willprovide assistance, guidance, and direction to patients, visitors,nursesand physicians
- You will answer call lights andassistwith sending specimens to lab as needed
- You will interview patients to obtain all necessary account information
- You will secure signatures necessary for treatments, release of medical information, insurance benefits, and payment of services
Experience
- Previous clerical experience in the healthcare or hospital field – preferred
- Medical terminology knowledge – preferred
- High school graduate or GED equivalent
- High School Graduate / GED
