Job Summary And Qualifications
Under the supervision of a licensed respiratory care practitioner (RCP), the Respiratory Therapy Tech will administer noninvasive respiratory care/therapy to patients without artificial airways as ordered by the attending physician; and perform noninvasive diagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for, and response to, therapy under the supervision of the supervisor or charge therapist.

Job Summary And Qualifications

- Administers andmonitorsrespiratory therapy treatments
- Administers therapy according toestablisheddepartmental policy (High Risk/High Volume)
- Respondsimmediatelytoemergencycodes and correctly manages the airway and external compressions under the direct supervision of a licensed RCP policy (High Risk/High Volume)
- Follows established hospital and departmental infection control policies
- Consult Charge Therapist when in doubt about a procedure or situation
- Records pertinent information on patient medical record.
- Accurately documents all respiratory care interventions during assigned shift (High Risk/High Volume)
- Maintains up-to-date departmental records
- Enters charges per shift for service performed/provided
- Gives knowledgeable andaccurateshift report to oncoming shift
- Performs noninvasive diagnostic tests
- Performs bedside spirometry and accurately records results
- Performs peak flow, inspiratory and expiratoryforceand vital capacity measurements
- Monitors pulse oximetry
- Perform ECGs as ordered policy (High Risk/Low Volume)
- Administers andmonitorscontinuous oxygen therapy
- Sets up oxygen new starts according to departmental policy within 20 minutes of notification policy (High Risk/High Volume)
- Monitors all continuous oxygen therapy, in the absence of the equipment technician, according to departmental policy.
- Performs cleaning, preventive maintenance and calibration of Respiratory Therapy equipment as required.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- High School Graduate / GED
