What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sensory Laboratory Technician position at St. Croix Sensory?
St. Croix Sensory is an industry-leading sensory evaluation laboratory headquartered in the St. Croix River Valley of Minnesota. For over 40 years, we've helped clients across environmental monitoring, consumer products, and materials testing answer one of science’s most nuanced questions: what does it smell like, and how much?
We’re a small, tight-knit team that does specialized work - and we take pride in doing it exceptionally well. If you’re curious, detail-oriented, and ready to contribute to something genuinely unique, we’d love to meet you.
We’re hiring a part-time Laboratory Technician for a consistent afternoon shift (11:00 - 4:00, up to 25 hours/week) - a great fit for someone who enjoys hands-on lab work in a focused, professional environment.
You will:
- Prepare lab spaces, equipment, and supplies for sensory evaluation sessions, assist in running them, and clean up afterward.
- Day-to-day responsibilities also include general lab upkeep, data entry, clerical support, and assisting with shipping and receiving.
- You’ll contribute to quality assurance by helping maintain the Quality Manual and supporting the development of standard operating procedures.
Working with a range of odors, including malodors, is a core part of the job.
You should be comfortable standing, sitting, and moving throughout the lab for extended periods and have the manual dexterity for repetitive tasks involving lab components. All staff must arrive fragrance-free - no scented hair or body products while on-site.
High school diploma or GED required; post-secondary education in a science-related field a plus.
