This leadership role is responsible for advancing the credit union’s data strategy and analytics capabilities by developing, maintaining, and optimizing data systems, integrations, and reporting tools. As a technical expert and program builder, the Leader of Data Management provides leadership in data management, analysis, and governance to support decision-making, compliance, and member experience initiatives.

This position serves primarily within the Information Technology department, working closely with senior leadership across Accounting, Lending, Operations, Solutions, and Member Services to build and maintain reliable data solutions. The individual will play a key role in developing the credit union’s data program infrastructure, ensuring data accuracy, security, and accessibility across all business units. Effective communication and leadership are essential to guide cross-departmental projects, mentor staff, and foster a data-driven culture within the credit union.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the credit union’s data program, including database development, ETL processes, data warehouse management, and reporting systems. Ensure data integrity, performance, and security across platforms.
  • Develop and maintain advanced data analytics and reporting tools to support business intelligence, regulatory compliance, and strategic decision-making. Partner with business Provide technical leadership and mentorship to IT staff as needed. Establish data standards, documentation, and best practices for data governance and stewardship.
  • Collaborate with department leaders (Accounting, Lending, Operations, Solutions, etc.) to design data models, dashboards, and KPIs that align with organizational goals. Translate business requirements into scalable data solutions.
  • Manage and optimize data integrations between core banking systems, CRM, digital platforms, and third-party vendors. Ensure compliance with data privacy, NCUA, and FFIEC guidelines.
  • Support executive leadership with data insights, reports, and analysis for strategic planning, audits, board presentations, and regulatory reporting.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Performance Measurements:

1. To ensure data systems and reporting tools are accurate, reliable, and compliant with regulatory and security standards.

2. To provide timely, actionable insights and reports that support strategic and operational decision-making.

3. To establish and maintain a scalable, documented data program framework that supports future growth and innovation.

4. To maintain strong collaboration and communication with all departments, promoting a unified, data-driven culture.

5. To mentor, train, and develop data and analytics staff to achieve departmental and organizational objectives.

6. To report any suspicious activity, as outlined in the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), to the credit union’s designated BSA officer.

Knowledge and Skills:

Experience Minimum of 5 years in data programming, database management, or analytics; 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role within a financial services or credit union environment preferred.

Education Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or related field required. Master’s degree preferred.

Interpersonal The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical information clearly and build positive working relationships across all levels of the organization. This individual should be approachable, collaborative, and aligned with the credit union’s mission and member service values.

Technical & Other Skills

The candidate possesses extensive experience in data programming and analytics, with proficiency in SQL, Python, and/or R, and familiarity with business intelligence tools such as Power BI or Tableau. A working knowledge of database systems (SQL Server, Oracle, or Snowflake), ETL processes, data modeling, and data governance best practices is required. Experience with credit union core systems (Symitar, Corelation, or Fiserv) and understanding of data privacy, security, and compliance requirements are strongly preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,990.00 - $88,737.50 per year
