The Business Systems Analyst serves as the primary owner and contributor to the administration, maintenance, enhancement, and optimization of the Credit Union’s business tools and systems. This role bridges business needs and technology solutions by aligning systems capabilities with organizational strategy.
Partnering closely with the IT Technical Director, this position focuses on process improvement, operational efficiency, and technology enablement across the organization. The Business Systems Analyst plays a key role in supporting and advancing our core systems including Keystone/Corelation, FastDocs, and other business platforms.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Process Improvement & Efficiency: Analyzes existing systems and workflows to identify technical and operational inefficiencies. Recommends and implements process improvements that enhance efficiency, user experience, and business outcomes across departments. Provides technical guidance to management and staff on effective application design and workflow utilization.
- Business & Technical Analysis: Partners with stakeholders at all levels to understand information requirements and operational goals. Gathers and documents business requirements, translates them into system specifications, and ensures alignment with the Credit Union’s strategic vision and technology roadmap.
- System Administration & Enhancement: Administers, supports, and enhances key business systems, including Keystone/Corelation, FastDocs, and other related platforms. Ensures systems are configured for maximum functionality, performance, and integration efficiency. Serves as the main technical owner of all business functional systems.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Leads and facilitates cross-departmental teams to define, design, and implement technology solutions that optimize workflows, improve data quality, and enhance member service. Collaborates closely with the IT Technical Director on strategic technology initiatives.
- Data Optimization & Support: Oversees shared data movement routines, ensuring data integrity and accuracy. Troubleshoots issues, develops reporting improvements, and provides guidance on optimizing business intelligence and reporting tools.
- Continuous Improvement & Learning: Actively participates in industry networking groups and councils. Stays informed on credit union technology trends and best practices to ensure the organization maintains leading-edge systems and processes.
- Other Duties: Performs other job-related duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational objectives.
Performance Measurements:
1. Demonstrates consistent delivery of business and technical solutions aligned with strategic objectives.
2. Effectively manages projects from inception through implementation and evaluation, ensuring timeliness and quality outcomes.
3. Maintains internal controls and documentation in compliance with Credit Union policies, procedures, and audit requirements.
4. Keeps management informed of key operational or system issues affecting performance.
5. Demonstrates continuous improvement in application and process design to reduce inefficiencies and improve member and employee experience.
6. Provides professional, knowledgeable, and responsive service to all staff and members.
Knowledge and Skills:
Experience Five to ten years of progressively responsible experience in business systems analysis, process improvement, or IT project management — preferably in a financial institution or credit union environment.
Education Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Relevant certifications (e.g., CBAP, PMI-PBA, or Technical certifications) preferred.
Interpersonal Requires a high degree of diplomacy, collaboration, and influence. Must be able to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, build trust across teams, and foster strong vendor and partner relationships.
Other Skills Demonstrates a strong blend of technical aptitude and business acumen, with the ability to align complex systems with organizational objectives. This role requires advanced project management skills and familiarity with methodologies such as Agile or Lean Six Sigma to drive process improvement and operational efficiency. A solid understanding of business process modeling, systems integration, and data management is essential, along with experience working with core credit union systems such as Keystone/Corelation and FastDocs. The individual must possess exceptional analytical thinking, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities, supported by excellent written and verbal communication skills. This position requires the ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and collaborate effectively across departments. Basic programming or scripting experience is beneficial and represents approximately five percent of the overall responsibilities.
