St Cloud Eye Clinic has an exciting opportunity for an Ophthalmic Technician. Ophthalmic Technician position will be working under the direction and supervision of the Ophthalmologists and Lead Technician. ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Record patient’s presenting complaint and associated symptoms. Obtain a complete medical and ophthalmic history; reconcile meds, document and update allergies.
- Perform and document subjective and objective ophthalmic testing efficiently to provide basic and extensive information necessary for ophthalmic examinations. This includes but is not limited to: history, visual acuities, lensometry, keratometry, visual fields, tonometry, A-scan, perform refractive surgery workup’s, assist with basic and complex clinical procedures, and scribing
- Calibrate and maintain clinical devices.
- Administer oral and ocular medications as directed by the eye care provider.
- Explain physician's orders to include pre-operative and other patient teaching as indicated and/or directed.
- Obtain quality OCT's of Optic Nerve and Retina.
- Teach/train Ophthalmic/Optometric Trainees.
- Triage patients both in clinic on the phone or inbox messages. Contact patients with test results. Arrange for urgent consults and additional testing.
- Review and respond to medication prior authorizations as well as refill requests.
- Perform any other duties as may be deemed necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Experience in an Ophthalmology Clinic Preferred
- Ophthalmic Technician certification (COT) or Ophthalmic Assistant certification (COA) by the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCHAPO) Preferred
This position is a 40 hour per week position, regularly working M-F between the hours of 8am - 5pm.
