Responsibilities
- Assist with patient intake processes, including gathering medical histories and explaining procedures clearly and compassionately
- Prepare, fit, and adjust orthopedic devices such as braces, splints, casts, and prosthetics to ensure proper fit and function
- Support physicians during examinations and procedures by setting up equipment and maintaining a sterile environment using aseptic techniques
- Educate patients on the proper use of orthopedic devices and post-care instructions to promote healing and mobility
- Document patient interactions accurately using medical terminology and ICD (International Classification of Diseases) coding for billing and record-keeping purposes
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care plans, especially for pediatric cases requiring specialized attention
- Maintain detailed records of device fittings, patient progress, and procedural notes while adhering to safety protocols
Requirements
- Prior hospital experience or clinical setting exposure is highly preferred
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology relevant to orthopedics
- Experience with intake procedures and patient service delivery in a healthcare environment
- Familiarity with ICD coding systems used for diagnosis documentation
- Ability to perform aseptic techniques diligently to prevent infection during procedures
- Excellent communication skills for explaining treatments clearly to patients of all ages, including pediatrics
- Demonstrated understanding of anatomy knowledge necessary for fitting orthopedic devices effectively
