What are the responsibilities and job description for the At Risk Youth Worker position at St. Clair County?
We’re seeking a dedicated At-Risk Youth Worker to join our Day Treatment/Night Watch Program or Juvenile Intervention Unit. This professional role is vital in ensuring the care, safety, and security of youth while serving as a positive role model and enforcing behavioral management standards.
What You’ll Do:
- Supervise and support at-risk youth to maintain safety and order
- Redirect and guide youth behavior with empathy and leadership
- Assist educational and clinical providers with schooling and emotional support
- Prepare reports and document youth progress for probation officers, clinicians, and courts
- Oversee recreational activities and intervene in crisis situations when necessary
- Model professionalism in all interactions with youth, staff, and families
What We’re Looking For:
- 30 college credits minimum (required) with coursework in Child Development, Criminal Justice, Education, Psychology, Sociology, or Social Work preferred
- Associate’s degree strongly preferred
- 2 years of experience working with at-risk or delinquent youth (or equivalent training/experience)
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and crisis management skills
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and exercise sound judgment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and basic administrative tasks
