Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and respectful Grounds Crew Worker / Landscaper to help maintain the beauty, safety, and dignity of our cemetery grounds. This role is responsible for landscaping, lawn care, and general upkeep to ensure a peaceful, well-kept environment for visitors and families.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine lawn maintenance, including mowing, trimming, edging, and fertilizing
- Plant, prune, and care for trees, shrubs, flowers, and other vegetation
- Maintain cemetery plots, headstones, and memorial areas with care and precision
- Operate and maintain landscaping equipment such as mowers, trimmers, blowers, and hand tools
- Assist with grave preparation and restoration (e.g., sod placement, leveling soil)
- Remove debris, leaves, and litter from grounds and walkways
- Maintain irrigation systems and assist with seasonal tasks like snow removal or leaf cleanup
- Follow safety procedures and respect all cemetery regulations and protocols
- Interact courteously with visitors, maintaining a quiet and professional demeanor at all times
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous landscaping, groundskeeping, or outdoor labor experience is a plus
- Ability to operate landscaping tools and equipment safely
- Physically able to perform manual labor in various weather conditions (lifting, bending, standing for extended periods)
- Strong attention to detail and respect for sensitive environments
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team
