Job Summary
The Phlebotomist demonstrates skill in pediatric phlebotomy and skin puncture techniques following all patient care and department policy and procedure guidelines. Acts as a primary laboratory representative to the patient. Is responsible for a timely and accurate collection of clinically acceptable specimens with proper identification of all patient information and transporting, processing and storing the laboratory specimens.
Qualifications
Schedule: Mon - Fri 8:30a - 5p or 9a - 5:30p. The scheduled start and end times require flexibility to meet the needs of the practice.

Acts as a primary laboratory representative to the patient. Is responsible for a timely and accurate collection of clinically acceptable specimens with proper identification of all patient information and transporting, processing and storing the laboratory specimens.
- Performs lab draws, heel sticks, etc.
- Uses appropriate patient identifiers.
- Maintains a working knowledge of both the laboratory and hospital information systems and tools.
- Provides dispatching or coordinating of collections and performs procedures in a standardized, accurate manner.
- Knowledge of the parameters of acceptability and critical values.
- Expected to perform other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications

Education Requirements
- High School Diploma - or - GED
- A minimum of one year in pediatric phlebotomy training/experience in a clinical or laboratory setting is preferred.
- BLS Certification by the American Heart Association (must be obtained within 30 days of hire date)
- Computer Skills to include use and navigation
