GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Substance Abuse Disorder (SUD) / Alcohol & Other Drug Abuse (AODA) Counselor works within an Outpatient Substance Abuse & Mental Health Clinic. They provide group and/or individual mental health and AODA treatment services to clients. They are required to meet all expectations as noted and outlined in DHS Chapters 35, 36 & 75.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Provides individual outpatient, and/or in-home/telehealth when appropriate and approved.
• Provides group counseling when appropriate and desired.
• Completes assessment, treatment plans and discharge summaries for/with each client.
• Completes progress notes and summary reports to document the direct services provided.
• Submits billing documentation, as required by referral and funding sources, in the agency Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
• Collaborate with referral sources and other professionals as appropriate (ex: CCS external billing EHR).
• Participate in clinical consultation and monthly team meetings as appropriate.
• Adheres to St. Charles Youth & Family Services Policies and Procedures.
• Attend trainings and meetings as required.
• Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

• Licensed by the State of WI as a LPC, LCSW, LMFT required. Licensure as a Substance Abuse Counselor (SAC-IT, SAC, or CSAC) preferred.
• Master’s degree in Social Work or related field.
• One year of experience counseling clients utilizing, cognitive behavioral methodology.
• Experience with dually diagnosed clients preferred.
• Strong written and verbal skills needed.
• Ability to work with youth & adults in group settings.
• Documented completed training in an AODA curriculum within the past three years.
• Ability to display cultural competence by responding respectfully and effectively to people of all cultures, languages, classes, races, ethnic backgrounds, religions and other diversity factors in a manner that recognizes, affirms and values the worth of individuals, families and communities and protects and preserves the dignity of each.
• Knowledge of state statutes related to AODA and social work.
• Valid WI Driver’s License and Vehicle Liability Insurance.
• Ability to use vehicle for work related duties according to the agency’s insurance liability standards.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Indoor environment to include in-office, telehealth, in-home, and community settings.
• Flexible schedule, some evenings required.
• Local travel as required fulfilling essential functions of the position.
