JOB OVERVIEW: The purpose of this position is to provide clerical duties for the Cyber Crime Unit, including the Coordination of Task Force units for the Statewide Internet Crimes Against Children Grant. This position acts under the supervision of the Captain – Division of Criminal Investigations.

  • Responsible for the direction of daily office operations to include centralization of business/financial operations, affiliate agency customer services, marketing, programming, purchasing, training, and other administrative duties.
  • Assist personnel with questions and concerns from affiliate agencies, vendors, and citizens.
  • Performs special assignments such as compiling reports, researching information, and summarizing data or publications.
  • Assists in preparing multiple annual budgets.
  • Prepares monthly expense and revenue line-item budget reports.
  • Notes commitments made during meetings and arranges for personnel implementation; draws attention to important actions or potential conflicts.
  • Maintains and distributes official department/unit policies and manuals.
  • Handles travel and conference requests, arrangements, and expense reports, including requests from affiliate agencies.
  • Acts as the Unit liaison on fiscal and grant matters to the County, State, and Federal governments.
  • Provides regular fiscal projections to accurately manage available grant funds and expenditures.
  • Prepares monthly grant financial status reports and quarterly grant progress reports submitted to the State and Federal governments.
  • Maintains website and social media, conducts internet research, coordinates speaking engagements, bids, and purchase orders for the task force.
  • Performs data entry, distributes, and files all information, including but not limited to all police reports, arrest data, investigation reports, crime laboratory analysis reports, and teletypes.
  • Assists in gathering data relating to cybercrimes.
  • Provides customer service to the public and law enforcement officers with information pertaining to the Cyber Crime Unit.
  • Requests, receives, and interprets information received from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, Missouri Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, and other local, State, and Federal law enforcement agencies.
  • Occasionally may encounter individuals who have an outstanding warrant for their arrest.
  • Receives, categorizes, and processes mail.
  • Processes and research information by utilizing the in-house computer systems, MULES/ NCIC, and the internet.
  • Prepares and schedules presentations.
  • Publishes a monthly newsletter.
  • Answers and logs incoming telephone calls.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Education
    • General/technical high school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Certifications
    • Requires certification in MULES Entry and Inquiry within the first year of employment.
  • Job Experience
    • 1-3 years of experience
    • Two years of clerical experience, preferably in a law enforcement environment or involving significant data entry or transcription.
  • Knowledge, skills, and abilities
    • Must have general knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and the ability to use other computer-based software.
    • Requires strong written and verbal communication skills. Must be free of pending charges and felony convictions.
  • Employment is contingent on successfully passing a full criminal background check.
