St. Catherine University invites application twelve (12) month, full-time Program Director position for our American Library Association Accredited Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) program. The Program Director is responsible for visionary leadership, strategic direction, and management of the Program. Additionally, after the initial year of a reduced load of one course, the successful candidate will maintain a regular teaching load of two courses per year. This is a tenure-track position that reports to the Dean of the School of Liberal Arts, Humanities, and Leadership. Work schedule is primarily remote with on-campus presence one week/month. The start date is flexible.

Responsibilities Include:
- Provide overall leadership for the MLIS program (MLIS degree and School Library Media Specialist licensure), ensuring academic excellence and alignment with professional trends and ALA accreditation standards.
- Lead strategic planning and future visioning in a changing higher education environment and in alignment with institutional strategic priorities.
- Lead curriculum development, revision, and evaluation in accordance with both institutional
- policies/procedures and accreditor standards.
- Lead efforts in program evaluation, assessment, and ALA accreditation compliance.
- Oversee the recruitment, hiring, mentoring, and evaluation of faculty.
- Manage administrative staff who support the program’s operations, including recruitment, scheduling, student advising, departmental records management, and coordination of events.
- Oversee and administrate all academic and programmatic departmental policies such as waivers, course substitutions, petitions for exceptions, transfer credit approvals and others.
- Work with university leadership to develop and manage the program’s budget.
- Identify and pursue funding opportunities in collaboration with External Engagement (SPREE) to support program initiatives and scholarships as appropriate.
- Collaborate with university offices (Admissions and Recruitment, Registrar, Academic Technology, and others) to ensure effective program implementation.
- Teach up to two graduate courses in a fully online program per academic year.
- Engage in scholarship in accordance with the requirements for a tenured/tenure track faculty member.
- Represent the MLIS program and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders including active service on committees.

Minimum Qualifications
- Doctorate in library and information science OR an ALA-accredited MLIS (or international equivalent) and a doctorate suitable for leadership in a library setting including those appropriate for special libraries. .
- Demonstrated teaching excellence in higher education.
- Experience in academic administration, program management, or a leadership role within higher education.
- Strong understanding of strategic planning, program evaluation and administration, curriculum design, assessment, and accreditation processes.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in both teaching and program administration.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage a diverse group of faculty, staff, and students.
- Experience with ALA accreditation processes and accredited program requirements.
- Teaching experience in an MLIS program.
- Excellent organizational, budget management, and communication skills.
- Ability to foster partnerships with external organizations and stakeholders.
- Experience working with online, hybrid, or innovative learning formats.
- Active involvement in professional organizations and a record of scholarly publications or presentations.
- Experience with grant writing and external funding procurement.

The salary range for this position is $86,805–$107,100 at the Associate Professor level and $99,827–$123,406 at the Professor level, depending on qualifications and experience. These ranges include compensation for Program Director duties.
If the individual steps back from administrative duties, the salary will be prorated and reduced to the standard 9/12 faculty rate, with no Program Director adjustment.
The salary range listed reflects a good-faith estimate of what we reasonably anticipate to pay for this position, based on market data and internal equity, at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be determined based on qualifications, experience, skills, and other relevant factors.
