Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Head Basketball Coach to lead our youth and adolescent basketball programs. The position is compensated by a stipend paid at the end of the season.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive training plans tailored to various skill levels, emphasizing fundamental basketball techniques, team strategies, and sportsmanship.
- Lead engaging practices that motivate players, enhance their skills in shooting, dribbling, passing, defense, and game tactics.
- Organize and oversee team practices, scrimmages, and competitive games while ensuring safety protocols are followed.
- Provide mentorship and behavioral management to foster discipline, teamwork, and confidence among athletes.
- Communicate regularly with players’ families regarding progress, upcoming events, and team expectations to build strong relationships.
- Coordinate with assistant coaches and support staff to ensure cohesive team management and development.
- Promote health and safety by maintaining certifications such as First Aid and CPR, operating AED devices when necessary, and adhering to all safety guidelines during activities.
Experience
- Proven coaching experience in basketball or related sports at middle and high school levels with demonstrated success in team leadership.
- Background in sports-specific training instruction with knowledge of basketball fundamentals and advanced gameplay strategies.
- Experience working with children or adolescents in educational or recreational settings, including behavior management skills.
- Familiarity with sports team organization, practice planning, game strategy development, and player development techniques.
- Strong communication skills for effective player and parent interaction combined with the ability to motivate diverse groups of students.
- Knowledge or experience teaching physical education or sports training programs is advantageous.
