Job Summary:

The Cafeteria Monitor supervises students during four lunch periods to ensure a safe, clean, and orderly environment. This role involves assisting students with meal needs, enforcing cafeteria rules, cleaning tables and dining areas, and occasionally providing light support to the kitchen staff.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Pick up lunches from Sacred Heart Academy daily.
  • Supervise students in the cafeteria during meal times, ensuring safe and appropriate behavior.
  • Assist younger students with opening containers, carrying trays, and cleaning up spills.
  • Encourage good table manners and support positive social interactions among students.
  • Monitor and manage noise levels to maintain a pleasant dining atmosphere.
  • Clean and sanitize tables, chairs, and cafeteria areas between lunch periods.
  • Assist with setup and breakdown of cafeteria (e.g., arranging tables, putting away supplies).
  • Provide limited assistance in the kitchen as needed (e.g., delivering food to serving lines, restocking utensils).
  • Respond quickly to incidents such as spills, student illness, or minor accidents, following safety protocols.
  • Communicate with school staff regarding student behavior or safety concerns.
  • Model respectful and caring interactions with students and staff.
  • Begin each lunch with prayer.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Prior experience working with children in a school or childcare setting is a plus.
  • Ability to manage and supervise groups of children in a firm, fair, and friendly manner.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Willingness to perform light cleaning and kitchen tasks.
  • Dependable, punctual, and able to follow school policies and procedures.

Work Schedule:

  • Part-time, typically 3 hours per school day during lunch periods.
  • Follows the school calendar.

  • School cafeteria setting in a Catholic School
  • Fast-paced with frequent movement, light cleaning, and student interaction.

Pay: From $16.00 per hour
