Job title: Middle Division Writing Teacher (Grades 7-8)
Start Date: July 2026 - First day of School is 7/27 and must be available for meetings the week before.
Description: St. Benedict's Prep seeks an energetic, dedicated, full-time Writing teacher to begin July 2026.
Ideal candidates are:
- adept at teaching all literacy skills, including foundational grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, writing, and literary analysis;
- knowledgeable about curriculum writing and technology, designing innovative unit/lesson plans that include a variety of instructional modalities and assessment types;
- clearly committed to student centered learning;
- willing to learn from and with colleagues in a collaborative environment, stretching themselves to continuously grow their craft, and consider professional learning a necessity;
- able to identify and help students address skill gaps in their backgrounds, differentiate instruction to reach all learners, and use technology to aid in student learning; and
- excellent classroom managers, establishing routines that create a structured and productive learning environment.
Faculty members are also expected to participate in another facet of school life, whether as a coach or activity moderator. We have needs in many extracurricular and co-curricular areas. Salaries for new teachers with no experience begin at $50K and scale upwards based on experience, education, and course and activity offerings.
St. Benedict’s Prep is a 158-year-old Catholic school with a rigorous academic program. The 950 students (co-ed K-8, all-girls 9-12, and all-boys 9-12) and 75 faculty members work together to build a community whose members are responsible to one another for developing character and talent.
