What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nurse Practitioner (Per Diem) position at St. Barnabas?
- Conduct pre-employment, annual, and regulatory health screenings (e.g., physical exams, respirator clearance, immunization review).
- Manage work-related injuries and exposures (e.g., needlestick injuries, bloodborne pathogen exposure) including assessment, treatment, follow-up, and documentation.
- Provide post-exposure evaluation, prophylaxis, counseling, and monitoring in accordance with OSHA, CDC, and institutional guidelines.
- Oversee immunization programs, including vaccine administration, compliance tracking, and education.
- Evaluate fitness-for-duty, work restrictions, and return-to-work status in collaboration with HR, risk management, and leadership.
- Diagnose and manage minor acute illnesses and injuries within scope of practice.
- Maintain accurate, confidential employee health records in compliance with HIPAA and organizational policies.
- Participate in infection prevention initiatives and surveillance activities.
- Educate employees on workplace safety, injury prevention, wellness, and occupational health risks.
- Serve as a clinical resource for employee health staff and leadership.
Qualifications:
- Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
- Current Nurse Practitioner licensure and certification (FNP, ANP, or equivalent).
- Active RN and NP license in the state of practice.
- BLS certification (ACLS preferred depending on setting).
- Experience in employee health, occupational health, urgent care, primary care, or public health preferred.
