Position: Dean of Academics
Requirements/Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Educational Leadership or related academic area.
- At least five years prior experience as a leader in an academic setting.
- Strong Augustinian Leadership skills, including vision-setting, relationship-building, and the ability to inspire and engage faculty, students, and stakeholders.
- Proven ability to establish academic goals and implement curriculum mapping to support measurable student achievement.
- Demonstrated ability to lead academic strategic planning and effectively allocate resources, coordinating people, processes, and initiatives to achieve institutional goals.
- Ability to create value by collaborating with others toward mission-aligned goals, leveraging expertise and knowledge to achieve desired outcomes.
- Ability to innovate and generate process enhancements that optimize outcomes and add value.
- Ability to work collaboratively with others in the community.
Functions of the Job:

- Delivers comprehensive educational and academic leadership while upholding the highest standards of professionalism.
- Directs day-to-day operations in collaboration with the Head of School and Dean of Student Leadership.
- Leads the overall Academic Strategic Plan, Curriculum Mapping, and the Educational Program (Section III) of the NJAIS Accreditation Self-Study.
- Evaluates and updates all academic policies, curricula, dual-credit programs, summer initiatives, and grade reporting practices.
- Plans Professional Development/Growth and Assessment of Instructional Staff.
- Develops the teaching schedule and, in collaboration with the Leadership Council, drafts the academic calendar.
- Directs the selection and presentation of academic awards, organizes the Annual Academic Awards Convocation, and implements initiatives that showcase student academic achievement throughout the school year.
- Manages the academic budget and state grant funding.
- Provides strategic leadership for and administration of the Summer School program, facilitating student progress and credit acquisition through structured, effective instruction.
- Executes the Academic Improvement Program, ensuring students not meeting co-curricular eligibility standards receive structured support to achieve academic success.
- Advises on student dismissals in collaboration with the Dean of Student Leadership.
- Collaborates with Human Resources to recommend new faculty to the Head of School; leads faculty orientation and works with the Head of School to ensure the mission of St. Augustine Preparatory School is deeply integrated into all faculty practices.
- Oversees college counseling/student services, analyzing the quality of academic outcomes for graduates and evaluating the effectiveness of student support services.
- Leads the annual Third Semester Program in collaboration with the Third Semester Coordinator, ensuring course offerings are diverse, incorporate high-quality assessments, and reflect Augustinian values.
- Directs and mentors the Program Architect for Innovation, Experiential Learning, and Entrepreneurship, guiding the design and advancement of programmatic, educational, and professional development initiatives that foster innovation and entrepreneurial thinking within the St. Augustine Preparatory School community.
- Directs and mentors the Eighth Grade Program Director to ensure a program that integrates strong academics with immersive experiential learning.
- Collaborates with Admissions to build an ethically aligned student population, including considered decisions regarding students with academic differences.
- Coordinates with Admissions to provide high-quality summer opportunities that support recruitment and student engagement.
- Collaborates with the Head of School on all academic communication.
- Serves as member of the Leadership Council and Leadership Team.
- Meets and maintains regular communication with the Head of School and Division Heads.
Salary Starting at $70,000 per year
