What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ballet Instructor/Teacher position at St. Augustine Dance Academy?
St. Augustine Dance Academy is seeking a seasoned and highly qualified ballet instructor for the 2025-26 school year for our World Golf Village location on Tuesdays and Thursdays 4:30 - 8:30pm. Our classes have already started for the season and have dancers enrolled so these classes are firm. This schedule includes advanced ballet and pointe classes.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of teaching experience, including pointe instruction.
- Willingness to work with 8-10 year old beginner ballet students using the provided American Ballet Theatre (ABT) curriculum that does not incorporate the use of barre. There is one class at this level at each location. All other levels are for experienced ballet dancers ages 9 and up through pointe.
- Advanced proficiency in ballet.
- Ability to differentiate instruction for varied skill levels.
- Strong musicality, choreography skills, and understanding of progressions.
- Positive, uplifting classroom presence and excellent management skills.
- Experience teaching students of all ages and abilities.
- Commitment to ongoing professional growth and development.
Preferred Qualifications
- College degree in Dance.
- Certification in specific dance styles, such as American Ballet Theatre or Acrobatic Arts.
- Experience as a professional dance company member.
Responsibilities
- Implement established dance curricula for various age groups and abilities.
- Teach dance technique and choreography in a classroom setting, ensuring a positive learning environment.
- Manage classroom dynamics and provide individualized attention to students, fostering their growth and confidence in dance.
- Collaborate with other instructors and participate in recital productions to enhance students' performance skills.
- Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to support their development in dance.
