St. Anthony - St. Paul School is inviting committed and talented early childhood educators to apply for an early childhood building leader position. This leader will be part of a cohort of early childhood leaders working in Catholic schools throughout the Archdiocese of New York and will receive coaching and training through the Office of Early Childhood.

  • Successful teaching and leadership experience as an early childhood educator

  • Familiarity with the NYSED Universal Pre-Kindergarten policies and procedures
  • Understanding of and respect for the developmental, cultural, and linguistic diversity that is part of the richness of the early childhood landscape
  • High expectations for instruction and social emotional support for all students
  • Ability to successfully lead and coach early childhood staff using research-based best practices aligned with the highest rating expectations of ECERS-3 and CLASS
  • Commitment to leading staff in providing rich and meaningful family engagement support and resources so as to promote the extension of learning in the home
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, verbal and written communication skills

Core Roles/Responsibilities:

The Early Childhood Building Leader serves as the Instructional Leader for an early childhood program (Pre-K - 2nd) in an ADNY elementary school. In this role he/she:

  • Ensures implementing the mission of the school in its regular operations
  • Sets, nurtures and meets high expectations in terms of school culture, professionalism, cultural responsiveness and instruction
  • Ensures program compliance with the NYSED UPK policy and procedures and district expectations
  • Ensures high quality implementation of the Creative Curriculum in pre-kindergarten classrooms
  • Ensures high quality instruction, aligned with the NYSED Early Learning Standards in Grades K-2
  • Supervises staff in providing a program that meets the varied needs of the children and families served by the program.
  • Conducts daily walk-throughs, models best practices and provides formative feedback to staff
  • Trains and coaches teaching staff to meet program standards
  • Uses ECERS and CLASS evaluations to plan for and implement ongoing program support
  • Evaluates staff performance
  • Uses student and program assessment data to work with staff to meet the needs of all students
  • Manages and assists admin staff in timely completion of all paperwork

Qualifications:

  • Master of Education in Early Childhood, Early Childhood Special Education or a related field (required)
  • Current New York State Teaching Certification in Early Childhood or Childhood Teaching (required)
  • Current NYS Builder Leader certification preferred
  • At least 3-5 years of experience as a teacher with classroom experience including 3 years of experience as a lead teacher in an Early Childhood classroom
  • At least 3-5 years of leadership experience
  • Experience working successfully in an inclusive and diverse work environment
  • Proficient in the use of technology (social media, Microsoft Office Suite, Seesaw, Google Suite, ability to learn various educational communication platforms)
  • First Aid and CPR certification preferred
  • Bilingual language skills preferred

Other:

  • If offered the position, background check clearance will be required.
  • Salary range $80,000-$84,000; comprehensive benefits package included.

Position start date: Summer 2023 as agreed to with Regional Superintendent
