St. Anthony's Hospice is a leader in providing quality, compassionate end-of-life care in Henderson, Union and Webster counties in Kentucky. Hospice care is provided in a variety of settings including individual homes, nursing homes and our inpatient hospice facility-the Lucy Smith King Care Center. Team members may be assigned to one or multiple care settings. 

St. Anthony’s Hospice is seeking a
Part Time Chaplain to minister to our patients and their families.  The position will primarily be Monday through Friday DAYS, and will provide spiritual care in a variety of settings.   This position requires the applicant to be computer literate, travel to patient homes, and provide spiritual care to patients and their family in keeping with their personal beliefs.   Experience with Hospice Care preferred, but not required. 



About the Role:


The Chaplain plays a vital role in providing spiritual care and support to patients, families, and staff within the healthcare setting. This position is focused on fostering a compassionate environment that respects the diverse beliefs and values of individuals while addressing their emotional and spiritual needs. The Chaplain will engage in grief counseling, pastoral care, and program development to enhance the overall well-being of those they serve. By collaborating with healthcare professionals, the Chaplain ensures that patient rights are upheld and that holistic care is integrated into treatment plans. Ultimately, the Chaplain's work aims to promote healing and comfort during challenging times, making a significant impact on the lives of patients and their families.


 Qualifications:



  • Graduate of Seminary with basic C.P.E. units or posses a Counseling Degree from an Accredited College or University.

    • Experience in the ministry or in a chaplaincy spiritual counseling position.

    • Ability to provide spiritual care without value judgment on personal spiritual beliefs, and belief in the hospice concept of terminal care.

    • Must arrange travel and be able to access client homes independently.

    • Must have ability to work independently of direct on-site supervision.

    • Must carry $100,000/$300,000 automobile liability insurance.


  • Personal:



    • Must carry a minimum of $100,000 automobile insurance.

    • Must be able to pass Criminal Records Background Check.

    • Must be able to pass the Driving Records Check upon hire and annually.



Responsibilities:



  • Conduct grief counseling sessions and support individuals coping with loss and bereavement

  • Participates as an active member of the Interdisciplinary Team for the assigned territory.

  • Completes spiritual assessment of each patient/family, and follows up as needed.

  • Provides support and spiritual care to patients and family in keeping with their beliefs.

  • Conducts or makes arrangements for funeral or memorial services as needed.

  • Advises team of problems concerning patient or family.

  • Acts as a liaison with the religious community, and advises patient’s pastor of patient’s involvement in the Hospice Program.

  • Other duties as assigned by the Clinical Director.


Skills:


The required skills of stewardship, grief counseling, and pastoral care are essential for the Chaplain's daily interactions with patients and families. These skills enable the Chaplain to provide empathetic support and guidance during difficult times, fostering a sense of hope and healing. Volunteer management skills are utilized to coordinate and train volunteers who assist in providing spiritual care, enhancing the overall support system. The ability to make independent decisions is crucial in assessing the needs of patients and determining the best course of action in providing care. Additionally, program development skills are applied to create initiatives that promote spiritual health and community involvement, ensuring that the Chaplaincy remains responsive to the evolving needs of the healthcare environment.
