Rehab Services staff also includes, 5 Occupational Therapist,
2 Occupational Therapist Assistants, 3 Speech Therapist,
and 1 Athletic Trainer
Physical Therapist Assistant position duties will depend on candidate’s strengths, will assign PTA to area they feel most comfortable.
Physical Therapy department volume= 80% outpatient, 5% home health, and 15% inpatient, SNF
Clinic hours 8-5 Monday through Friday
St. Anthony’s has 2 orthopedic surgeons so large volume of orthopedic patients
Physical Therapy department sees a wide variety of patients: orthopedic, geriatric, pediatric, pelvic floor, lymphedema, neurologic, work injuries, sports injuries, and custom shoe inserts

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Assists Physical Therapist and Physical Therapy Assistants with treatment protocols.
- Helps patients complete necessary admission paperwork, complete insurance verification and get authorization for treatment required.
- Adheres to the requirements of the patient’s Bill of Rights.
- Assists in patient scheduling.
- Assists in patient record keeping.
- Monitors the status of patients within the Rehab Services Department, which may include Occupational and Speech Therapy in addition to Physical Therapy.
- Under the direction of the therapist, optimizes physical ability skills among patients by transporting, transferring, and moving patients as directed.
- Communicates closely with patients to ensure comfort and safety.
- Cleans and sets up clinical treatment areas for patients with proper disinfectant after each use.
- Orders and organizes laundry for smooth departmental operation.
- Help in various areas, inpatient, outpatient, nursing home, and home health as needed.
- Communicates closely with the Physical Therapists and Physical Therapy Assistants regarding any patient needs or concerns.
- Prepares patients for treatment and transports patients to and from other departments as needed.
- Perform inventory of the clinic supplies as needed.
- Helps implement the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) for the assigned departments.
- Practices and behaves in a professional, safe and ethical manner at all times.
- Serves as a patient advocate.
- Maintains friendly and courteous interpersonal communication skills and a positive service attitude.
- Participates in performance improvement and educational activities. Completes all CEU’s as required by respective licensure. If licensed, maintains an active and current license.
- Works willingly and accepts assignments as given.
- Attends all mandatory meetings and programs.
- Participates in opportunities that enhance personal and professional growth.
- Performs other duties as necessary or assigned.

Education And/or Experience
- Associates degree or certificate from a physical therapy program that included course study in anatomy and physiology, and clinical experience.
- Licensed to practice as a Physical Therapy Assistant in the State of Iowa.
- Ability to work with a variety of patients and medical professionals.
- Valid driver license
- Completion of MVR prior to hire and annually with an Acceptable grading criteria
- Proof of insurance upon hire and annually for personal vehicles used for company business (recommended minimum of $100,000 for property damage and $300,000 for bodily injury)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written, verbal, and/or diagram form instructions
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
- Must possess effective time management skills.
