What are the responsibilities and job description for the Middle School Theology Teacher position at St. Anthony of Padua School?
At St. Anthony of Padua, we are more than just a school – we are a family. Our mission is to engage students in academic excellence while guiding them to live as a reflection of Jesus. As educators, we partner closely with families, our pastor, and a dedicated parish community to nurture the whole child. If you are a passionate educator who loves walking alongside middle school students as they grow in faith and intellect, we would love to partner with you!
Our daily work and relationships are anchored in three root beliefs:
-We belong to one another.
-We are lifelong learners.
-Faith in Jesus Christ is the foundation and center of all we do.
As our Middle School Theology Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the hearts and minds of our 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. This is a uniquely balanced, full-time position designed to give you the time and space to truly know and support your students.
Core responsibilities:
-Faith Formation: Help students learn, love, and live our Catholic faith. Utilizing our provided curriculum, you will create dynamic lessons that make the Gospel relevant to young adolescents.
-Educational Support: Benefit from dedicated time built directly into your daily schedule to provide targeted academic support, mentoring, and encouragement to students who need an extra boost.
-House Leadership: Lead a Middle School “House,” fostering community spirit, healthy competition, peer mentorship, and a deep sense of belonging among our older students.
-Elective Teacher: Design and teach two elective courses of your own choosing annually, allowing you to share your unique hobbies, talents, or passions with our students while helping them to build lifelong skills.
Why Join Our Team?
-A Culture of Belonging: You will join a highly collaborative, encouraging team of educators who genuinely support one another.
-Strong Pastoral Partnership: Enjoy an active, visible, and deeply supportive relationship with our pastor and parish community.
-Tuition support for employees with children enrolled in a Catholic school in the Diocese of Grand Rapids.
-Competitive benefits package, including health insurance and a diocesan pension plan.
-Professional development tailored to our school calendar and staff goals.
Position Qualifications:
-A practicing Catholic who is joyful about sharing the faith and living as a reflection of Jesus.
-A collaborative educator who views teaching as a true partnership with families and colleagues.
-An innovative mindset ready to inspire lifelong learning.
-Holds a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate or Bachelor’s Degree in Theology with a willingness to enroll in a program for teacher certification.
