Job Description
St. Anna Catholic School located at 213 Lancaster St., Leominster, MA 01453, is seeking a Principal to serve as the spiritual, educational, and administrative leader of its preschool through eighth grade program. The Principal is the primary agent for creating an environment that fosters Catholic faith formation, academic excellence, and community involvement. The Principal is responsible for creating a welcoming atmosphere for all members of the school community (faculty, staff, students, parents, and donors) and a climate that encourages the engagement of each student in the learning process. The Principal directs all phases of the school’s operations including personnel matters, educational programming, budgeting, facilities operations, and the creation of a positive and supportive school culture. Applicants should be practicing Catholics fully committed to the doctrine of the Church. Applicants must also have teaching and/or administrative experience and a broad understanding of the needs of a wide range of grade levels within a Catholic school setting. The individual must demonstrate adaptive leadership and good communication skills to collaborate effectively with students, faculty, staff, and parents. The ideal candidate must be a professional who can multi-task and who is ready to work with the pastor of St. Anna Parish, the School Board and the Parish Finance Committee to implement a vision for the growth of the school, thereby securing its future.
About St. Anna Catholic School
St. Anna Catholic School serves over 200 students. The school was founded in 1953 under the care of the Venerini Sisters. The campus includes the main classroom building (grades K-8), along with a separate facility for preschool and easy access to St. Anna Parish Church. In addition to the Principal, staffing consists of 12 classroom teachers and 16 para professionals (full-time & part-time), including art, music, technology, and physical education. Job Requirements
The responsibilities of the principal include but are not limited to:
•Provides visible leadership within the school community and creates an inviting, welcoming, and nurturing learning environment that reflects the ardent Catholic identity of the school
•Ensures that the daily experience of students consistently reflects the Catholic mission of the school and is child-centered, positive, safe and promotes self discipline.
•Creates an atmosphere with faculty, staff, and parents that establishes a culture of kindness, fosters a love of learning among students, and encourages the development of each student to his or her full potential
•Maintains a rigorous educational program that meets the tradition of excellence and incorporates well-designed curriculum, engaging lesson content, best teaching practices, and the effective integration of technology
•Recruits, interviews, selects, hires, supervises and evaluates all staff, holding them to high expectations through reflective practice.
•Coordinates professional development for faculty that advances the educational and spiritual goals of the school
•Prepares and monitors the school budget in collaboration with the Pastor, Business Manager, School Board and Parish Finance Committee, and possesses a working knowledge of financial statements and generally accepted business practices and processes
•Manages and oversees the school’s web-based management system to ensure proper record keeping of student’s progress reports, school calendar, etc.
•Strengthens admissions and retention through marketing and public relations strategies and solicits donations to benefit financial aid and school enrichment
•Develops and facilitates the use of all appropriate means of communication including employee handbook, parent-student handbook, regularly scheduled bulletins or newsletters, and parent conferences.
•Communicates and responds with the parent community through regular updates utilizing the school website, emails, parent portal, by open availability for meetings and telephone calls
•Maintains open channels for two-way communication with all members of the school community; establishes and makes know the procedures for hearing complaints and resolving conflicts
•Works collaboratively with the Friends of St. Anna School and the Gala Committee and actively supports their programs and activities.
•Represents the school or the parish on committees and parish events as requested by the pastor.
•Attend regularly scheduled monthly School Board Meeting at which the Principal reports on the progress of the school (enrollment, faculty, etc.)
•Any other task determined by the Pastor and/or School Board for the success of
St. Anna Catholic School and the safety and well being of all involved, especially student and faculty.
Qualifications
Practicing Catholic living according to the teachings of the church.
At least 5 years relevant teaching/administrative experience, preferably at the elementary and/or middle school level
•Master’s degree in Education
•Current Massachusetts licensure as a school principal preferred
•Citizenship, residency, or work visa required
