Assistant Mechanic

Position Summary:

Diagnose mechanical failures and repairs all golf course related equipment and vehicles according to manual, factory specifications and knowledge of engine performances, using hand tools, power tools, and testing instruments.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Attach compression, ignition, and timing tests instruments to certain parts of equipment, using clamps and hand tools.
• Start engine dials and read meters and gauges of testing equipment to diagnose engine malfunctions.
• Remove and disassemble engine, transmission and clutches, using hoists, jacks and hand tools.
• Inspect parts for damage and verify dimensions and clearance of parts for conformance to factory specifications using gauges, such as calipers and micrometers.
• Replace or repair worn or damaged parts.
• Grind valves, relines and adjusts brakes, tighten body bolts, align wheel and tunes engines.
• May weld defective body or frame parts.
• Keep all blades of mowing equipment in well maintained and sharpened condition.
• Maintain records.
   

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

Education & Work Experience Requirements:

• Knowledge of 2 and 4 cycle engines, diesel engines, electrical systems, hydraulic systems, grinding, welding and torch experience

The employee must occasionally lift and /or move up to 80 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
