What are the responsibilities and job description for the Activities Assistant position at St. Andrew's at Francis Place?
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Activities Assistants to support the Activities Director on planning, scheduling and implementing programs for our residents in a senior living community. If you’re passionate about geriatric care and thrive in a team-oriented setting, we’d love to have you join our team.
- Assist in planning, organizing, and leading daily activities—both group and one-on-one—such as arts and crafts, music sessions, exercise classes, and themed events.
- Encourage and motivate residents to participate, adapting activities to meet varying abilities and interests.
- Help transport residents to and from activities, ensuring safety and comfort.
- Maintain activity spaces—setting up, cleaning up, and keeping supplies organized.
- Collaborate with the Activities Director to brainstorm new, creative programs that reflect residents’ passions and life stories.
- Build warm, trusting relationships with residents, families, and fellow team members.
Requirements
- Mut be 18 yrs old.
- A genuine passion for working with older adults and enhancing their daily lives.
- Creativity, enthusiasm, and the ability to adapt activities for different physical and cognitive abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills—patience and empathy are a must.
- Organizational skills to manage schedules, materials, and multiple activities.
- Previous experience in recreation, caregiving, or hospitality is a plus, but a caring heart is essential.
