Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise Public Safety staff, including an Associate Director.
- Oversee campus security operations, emergency preparedness, and incident response.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations, including Clery Act reporting.
- Develop and implement safety policies, procedures, and training programs.
- Partner with campus and external stakeholders to promote a community-focused safety culture.
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred.
- 5–7 years of public safety, law enforcement, or emergency management experience.
- Supervisory and leadership experience.
- Strong communication, decision-making, and interpersonal skills.
- Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and on-call duties.
- Due to the nature of campus safety operations, the Director of Public Safety must maintain a residence or be located such that they can respond to campus within 20 minutes when needed.
