What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Campus Minister position at St. Albert the Great?
I. POSITION PURPOSE:
The purpose of this position is to provide minister and communication support to the Student Center and its students.
II. ACCOUNTABILITIES:
The Assistant Campus Minister is supervised by the Student Center Director. He or she is to abide by all of the employee policies as stated in the Personnel Handbook of the Student Center.
III. GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must accomplish in satisfactory fashion all the responsibilities detailed in this position description, in keeping with all the policies and stipulations of the Lay Personnel Handbook
- Must be able to demonstrate achievement of exceptional verbal and written communication skills, public/customer relations skills, through declared experience and/or references
- Must demonstrate creative organizational, record keeping, and administrative/clerical/office skills including, but not limited to, basic and accurate computer data input and word processing and desktop publishing/composition/grammatical skills, including the ability and willingness to learn new computer programs
- Must demonstrate ability to work independently, be proactive in approaching position responsibilities, and possess ministerial attitude and mentality which always perceives position as serving God and the Church
- Must be physically and emotionally stable and capable of performing position responsibilities
- Must be an active and fully initiated member of the Catholic Church
- Must maintain a professional demeanor and uphold confidentiality
- Must prioritize and manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Must be detail-oriented and reliable
- Must have in-depth knowledge of the Catholic faith and theology along with an appreciation and respect for diversity of faiths and traditions
- Must have skills in retreat planning and community building
Must have the ability to -
- Plan and lead thoughtful, biblically centered worship in the Catholic tradition
- Communicate effectively, build relationships throughout the college, and interact with college students
- Work with diverse populations and create a welcoming and inclusive environment
- Work independently on projects
- Collaborate with the Director, other Campus Ministers and student leaders
- Creatively plan and implement programs on our college campus
- Create pieces for publication
- Work nights, occasional weekends, and special events
- Oversee weekly campus ministry events and meetings
- Lead collaborative efforts and connections across the campus
- Provide pastoral care and ministry for all students
- Perform other duties as assigned
IV. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversees all major retreats within Campus Ministry specifically Lion Awakening, and Busy Students's Retreat alongside the Campus Minister
- Supervises student retreat leaders on the development and leadership of retreats
- Oversees alongside the Campus Minister the selection, training, and development of student leaders
- Plans and oversees opportunities for students to participate in service and community engagement
- Creates an inclusive and welcoming environment for all students on campus
- Promotes the mission of Campus Ministry to the campus community and the local community
- Attends weekly student and full team meetings and meets weekly with the Director
- Keeps account alongside the Campus Minister of budget for campus ministry activities as determined by the Director
- Assists the Campus Minister to plan and coordinate all details of yearly mission trip
- Performing any other duties that may be assigned that fall under Campus Ministry or communications for the Church
- Creates and publishes content to promote events and resources offered by the student center, including social media and any other media needs of the organization
HOURS: 25 hours a week
The position of Assistant Campus Minister is compensated by hourly-wage.
