FOOD SERVICE WORKER/HOUSEKEEPER
JOB DESCRIPTION
Reports To: Assistant Programmatic Services Director (Coconut Grove)
FLSA Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt
Job Summary: The Food Service Worker/Housekeeper will prepare meals and serve to the children enrolled in St. Alban’s. In addition to serving meals, the position ensures the facility is sanitary and clean per the standards set forth by the agency.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities for Food Service:
- Receive, prepare, and serve food in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- If there is a problem with the food, notify the catering company and the Nutrition Coordinator as soon as possible.
- Maintain a clean kitchen at all times.
- Follow the daily scheduled assignments in carrying out the meal service.
- Attends trainings, workshops, and all other meetings as requested by the immediate supervisor.
- All other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities for Food Service:
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Attention to detail.
- Knowledge of health hazards of food preparation and necessary precautionary measures.
- Ability to learn new skills.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of sanitation and personal hygiene as applied to food preparation and service.
- Spanish language ability helpful but not required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities for Housekeeper:
- Maintain a facility that is clean and free of debris and other harmful situations.
- Adhere strictly to rules regarding health and safety and be aware of any company-related practices.
- Perform a variety of cleaning activities such as but not limited to disinfecting, sweeping, mopping, dusting and polishing.
- Maintain an adequate supply of paper goods and cleaning supplies, at all times onsite and in classrooms.
- Assist other center staff when needed.
Attend trainings, workshops and other educational institutions to enhance knowledge and skills.
- All other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities for Housekeeper:
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Knowledge of materials, methods, and equipment typically used in housekeeping work.
- Attention to detail.
- Spanish language ability helpful but not required.
- Ability to read and write.
