Description:

Director of Operations – St. Agnes Catholic Parish, Roeland Park is seeking a full-time Director of Operations to oversee the day-to-day business, financial, human resources, and facility functions of our vibrant parish and school campus of 1,200 families. Reporting directly to the Pastor, this key leadership role provides the vital administrative foundation necessary to sustain and grow the parish's mission. Applicants should have experience in operations, finance, facilities or personnel management. Non-profit leadership experience is a distinct advantage. This is a benefit-eligible position. Requirements:
  1. Operational Management & Campus-Wide Facilities
  • Comprehensive Campus Management: In cooperation with parish leadership (Pastor, Principal, Finance Council, etc.) hold primary administrative authority over all physical assets, buildings, and grounds (church, school, rectory, convent, and green spaces), ensuring full adherence to safety, local building codes, and ADA standards.
  • Capital Improvements & Maintenance: Plan, prioritize, and execute deferred maintenance, major renovations, and preventative upkeep across the entire campus footprint.

Staff Supervision:

  • Accountant/Bookkeeper: Oversee financial reporting, internal controls, and payroll.
  • Administrative Staff: Direct daily office operations, scheduling, and the integrity of sacramental records.
  • Facilities Team: Directly manage the Facilities Manager, maintenance/custodial staff, and independent external contractors.
  • Parish Life Coordinator: Provide operational support, budget oversight, and administrative alignment for community events and ministry initiatives.

Systems Optimization & Communications:

  • Direct internal and digital communications systems. Assist staff and school leadership in optimizing integrated technologies, database management, and digital outreach channels (e.g., website, email networks, and parish bulletins) to ensure a unified parish voice.

2. Financial Stewardship & Development

  • Budgeting: Lead the annual budgeting process in close collaboration with the Pastor, School Principal, and Finance Council.
  • Internal Controls: Ensure robust financial internal controls and strict compliance with Archdiocesan financial policies.
  • Reporting: Provide regular, transparent financial statements and analysis to the Pastor and Finance Council.
  • Stewardship Campaigns: Oversee the operational and administrative logistics of annual sacrificial giving appeals, capital campaigns, and parishioner tithe tracking, ensuring deep gratitude and accountability in resource management.
  • Volunteer & Talent Cultivation: Partner with the Parish Life Coordinator to establish clear pathways for recruiting, onboarding, and tracking volunteers across all temporal and operational ministries.

3. Human Resources, Compliance & Virtus

  • Policy Compliance: Ensure all parish and school operations align with the Archdiocesan HR manual, safe environment mandates, and local employment laws.
  • Personnel Management: Assist the Pastor in hiring, onboarding, offboarding, and performance management for lay staff.
  • Contracts: Act as the authorized agent to negotiate, review, and manage contracts with vendors, suppliers, and service providers.
  • Virtus / Safe Environment Oversight: Serve as the primary authority for Virtus compliance. Ensure 100% compliance for all parish employees, school staff, and volunteers through rigorous background screening, training verification, and meticulous database management to clear annual Archdiocesan audits.

4. Strategic Leadership & Council Relations

  • Parish Vision: Support the Pastor in executing long-term strategic plans for parish growth, structural infrastructure, and financial sustainability.
  • Pastoral Council Role: Serve as the primary operational liaison to the Pastoral Council. Attend meetings as a key staff resource to evaluate the operational feasibility of pastoral initiatives, provide data-driven operational updates, and align parish resources with the council's visionary goals.
  • Finance Council Liaison: Serve as the primary staff resource for the Finance Council, preparing agendas and financial packets in coordination with the Pastor.
  • Collaboration: Maintain healthy, collaborative working relationships with school leadership, the Principal, and various Archdiocesan offices.
