What are the responsibilities and job description for the SkyTrail Guide position at SSYMCA?
Under the supervision of the SkyTrail Leadership the Guide is charged with effectively and safely supervising the SkyTrail environment in accordance with the following policies established by the South Shore YMCA, and Ropes Courses Inc. while also providing a high level of member service.
CORE EXPECTATIONS:

PROGRAM EXECUTION
-
Supervise all SkyTrail activities while on duty, and assist with set up or break down for the day.

Adhere to the RCI Standard of being on the SkyTrail within 1 level of all participants while participants are on course.

Guides will not have cell phones on course under any circumstances.

Guides will not leave the SkyTrail unattended. Guides can only be relieved by approved, certified Guides.

Respond to incidents appropriately, calmly and professionally.

Record all incidents and accidents immediately after situation has been resolved and you will not be distracted from the patrons on the Trail.(Report emergency immediately to supervisor on duty)

Follow and enforce SkyTrail rules on and off duty.

STAFF ENGAGEMENT AND TEAMWORK

Work with fellow YMCA staff members and treat them with respect.

Every Guide has the responsibility of reviewing all guidelines for emergency procedures to ensure a prompt and appropriate response to any incident.

Perform other duties needed as delegated by the supervisor on duty or SkyTrail Leadership member.

Attend all staff meetings and complete skill trainings.

MEMBER ENGAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENT

Enforce all SkyTrail rules in a consistent, fair and firm manner.

Interact with members in a friendly, engaging, and professional manner.

Educate members of all policies and procedures of the YMCA and the SkyTrail Department when needed.

Be familiar with all information and answer questions about programs, schedules, and policies or direct people to SkyTrail Leadership.

Ensure that the South Shore YMCA Child Protection Policies are fulfilled.

FACILITY MANAGEMENT

Maintain a clean and organized SkyTrail environment.

Record and report any faulty equipment and/or lapse in maintenance to the supervisor on duty.

Take and record Daily Checks per department standards.

VOLUNTEER DEVELOPMENT

Support volunteers and their daily functions.

Required Certifications:

Must Receive and Pass SkyTrail Training to receive Job

Must be at least 16 years of age.

Previous Ropes experience preferred, but not Manditory.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, or crouch. Employee is required to wear a Harness while on course.
