What are the responsibilities and job description for the Holiday Assistance Coordinator position at SSYMCA?
A seasonal role which is perfect for a current employee looking to add some hours to their work
week within your Y. The Holiday Assistance Program Coordinator will work closely with other Y
leadership staff for the registration and administration of our famous “Holiday Assistance
Program” to support up to 400 families with holiday gifts, meals, clothing and additional support.

CORE EXPECTATIONS:

PROGRAM COORDINATION, EXECUTION & DEVELOPMENT
-
Collect intake packets and register participants for the H.A.P.
-
Work with partner agencies to share family’s needs.
-
Help manage the “adopt a family” or child program within the branches and communities we serve.

Organize and catalog gifts for families at the North Pole Prior to pick up.

Coordinate and facilitate pick up and / or delivery times with families that have been adopted.

Recruit organizations and individuals to adopt a family or child.

Work with staff and volunteers to fill a schedule of events at the North Pole and / or delivery service.

STAFF ENGAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENT
-
Works directly with SSYMCA staff to ensure a successful Holiday Assistance Program. At times will act as the program lead in the absence of SSYMCA leadership.

PARTICIPANTSHIP ENGAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENT

Builds and fosters relationships with and among organizations and individuals to take part in the program, by adopting a family or child

BUDGET & FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT
-
Works within the budget determined by association leadership and / or staff. Will monitor expenses and make sure appropriate approval is given for all expenses.

FACILITY MANAGEMENT
-
Will work to maintain a clean and organized North Pole to allow for ease of access and use during the program.

VOLUNTEER DEVELOPMENT
-
Builds and further develops volunteer capacity, sharing the social responsibility.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT & SUPPORT
-
Will help assists in YMCA fund raising activities/events and engages in collaborative relationships with community organizations in order to strengthen support and build community.

Passion to help others in the community.

Computer experience required: Microsoft office suite including Word, Excel.

A basic knowledge of SGA operating system / the wiliness to learn.

Flexibility in schedule as the holidays approach. Some evenings and weekends needed for

pick up and drop off activities.

The ability to develop positive, effective working relationships with, staff, volunteers,

participants, community leaders and other agencies are critical to this position.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. While performing the duties of
this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk and talk and hear. The employee is
