SSTAR is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) which affords our employees eligibility to apply for one of our three Loan Repayment Programs.
The Referral & Authorization Specialist is responsible for processing patient insurance referrals, prior authorizations relating to patient care which includes knowledge of insurance companies.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Arrange outside medical appointments ordered by our providers.
- The Referral & Authorization Specialist will verify insurance and complete prior authorizations
- Liaison between Health Center and outside specialty offices.
- Answering phone calls in the Referral Department
- The Referral & Authorization Specialist will document all referral actions taken in the medical records
- Other duties as required.
Hourly Pay Rate Range: $18-22/hour
Experience and Skills:
- High school diploma required.
- Previous office experience required.
- Proficient with computer systems.
- Team Player, Respectful of others.
- Data Entry and strong organizational skills.
- Good communication skills.
- Pleasant phone manner.
