The communication technician repairs and maintains communication equipment through planned maintenance scheduling; monitors equipment; communicates equipment needs and issues; partners with departments to provide both tactical and strategic support for the needs of the mine to operate in an effective, efficient, and safe manner.

Job Description
General Objectives:
The Communication Technician typically works a rotating day schedule. The communication technician repairs and maintains communication equipment through planned maintenance scheduling; monitors equipment; communicates equipment needs and issues; partners with departments to provide both tactical and strategic support for the needs of the mine to operate in an effective, efficient, and safe manner.
Key Areas Of Responsibilities & Duties
The key responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
- Assisting in the execution of mobile maintenance department practices to optimize equipment availability and utilization
- Installing, programming, troubleshooting, and repairing equipment including two-way radios, modular mining dispatch systems, Rajant Mesh network systems, equipment camera systems, CAT DSS systems, equipment TPMS systems, Flanders autonomous drill systems and XM Radios.
- Maintenance of mining equipment to ensure work is performed correctly, safely and efficiently with minimal impact on mine site productivity
- Communicating with supervisor and planning department to plan and schedule maintenance work including the provision of supplies and parts
- Analyzing maintenance trends and issues to proactively improve procedures and systems to improve equipment availability and utilization, and reporting those to supervisor
- Maintaining a safe, healthy and clean environment by ensuring that Marigold’s safety values are present in all aspects of planning and work
- Managing multiple priorities while maintaining a safe work culture
- Ability to lead and work in a team-oriented environment and support a 24/7 operation in strenuous physical conditions both indoors and outdoors.
- Clear understanding and willingness to observe and practice company SOPs and policies.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Strong ability to communicate effectively, in English, using all standard forms of business communication is essential.
- Strong understanding of safety policies and procedures relating to mine equipment and maintenance practices.
- Working knowledge of Mobile Equipment Electrical and Data Systems.
- Strong Computer skills.
- Own and maintain required personal tools required.
- Experience with Modular Dispatch System(s), Rajant Mesh Wireless, MineCare Interfaces and High Precision GPS preferred, PLC’s, WLAN networking.
- Two (2) years’ experience in a mine maintenance environment preferred.
- Valid Driver License required.
