Will require some travel to South County (Butler Hill), North County (Pershall Road), Streets of Caledonia (O'Fallon/HWY K) and Anderson (Edwardsville, IL) locations. Main Campus- Cardinal Glennon-Home relocation Job Summary: The Clinic-Based Licensed Athletic Trainer (LAT) is the liaison between the physician, patient, nursing, and therapy staff. Essential daily functions of the position include but are not limited to rooming patients, developing/instructing home exercise programs, fitting durable medical equipment (DME), clinical documentation of progress notes, scribing for physician, triaging phone calls, scheduling referrals, and procedures and other duties as directed by the supervising physician. Job Responsibilities and Requirements: PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Performs evaluations, sets functional and objective goals and plans treatment programs for each patient referral in collaboration with Sports Medicine Physician. Responds to patient’s questions regarding treatment plans and rehabilitation. Reevaluates the plan and goals with patient in a timely manner. Manages patient flow and performs patient rooming standards, assists in the following as needed under the physician’s direction. Provides initial rehabilitation exercises and instruction, demonstration, and feedback on patient performance of exercises as directed by attending physician. Fits and instructs patients with splints, crutches, braces, wraps, and other durable medical equipment as directed by attending physician. Assists supervising physician with scribing thorough and accurate documentation of the patient’s physical exam and the treatment plan. Triages and screens calls related to patient care. Completes clinical documentation promptly according to department expectations. Establishes and maintains relationships with area high school/collegiate/industrial Licensed Athletic Trainers to expedite referrals to the supervising physician and coordinates quality care based on supervising physician’s recommendations. Conducts practice in accordance with National Athletic Trainers Association and Code of Ethics and the state employed in requirements. Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner. Performs other duties as assigned. EDUCATION Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training or related field If Bachelor’s degree is in a related field, must possess a Master’s in Athletic Training EXPERIENCE No experience required PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Frequent standing. Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs. Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Frequent use of hearing to distinguish body sounds and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc. Frequent use of vision for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more). Frequent walking, reaching, gripping and keyboard use/data entry. Occasional bending, stooping, climbing, kneeling, sitting, squatting, twisting and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements. Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs. Occasional lifting/moving patients. Occasional use of vision to judge distances and spatial relationships and to identify and distinguish colors. Occasional driving. Rare crawling. REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL LICENSE AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS Resuscitation Certification Requirement: Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) required within 90 day of employment. Other resuscitation certifications may be required dependent on department.
