Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site position, with 10-20% travel domestic and international, located in Wilsonville, OR. The Automation Controls Engineer will be responsible for electrical design using AutoCAD, knowledge of NEC/UL508A standards in designing industrial control panels, troubleshooting electrical systems, and programming and working with PLCs, HMIs, and VFDs. The role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams, such as Purchasing, Customer Service and Mechanical Engineering departments so interpersonal skills is a must.
This is a hands on position. The ideal candidate should be able to design electrical panels, program PLC/HMI and VFDs, troubleshoot both electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic issues, and work with their hands using tools and instruments in the field.
Qualifications
- Strong background in Controls Engineering and Troubleshooting of complex industrial systems
- Proficiency in Electrical Engineering principles, Electrical schematic design using AutoCAD, and knowledge of NEC/UL508A
- Skills in designing, programming, and implementing Control Systems, PLCs, HMIs, VFDs (Primarily Siemens, Allen Bradley, ABB)
- Knowledge of related safety standards and industry best practices
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
- Previous experience in manufacturing or industrial environments is a plus
- Must be able to work with people across separate departments
- Must be willing to work with your hands, and must be curious and always wanting to learn new things
