Overview
Join our dynamic team as a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) A Driver and take charge of delivering freight safely and efficiently across various routes. This role offers an exciting opportunity to operate a range of commercial vehicles, including tractor-trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and refrigerated trailers, while ensuring compliance with all safety and transportation regulations. As a CDL A Driver, you’ll be the vital link in our logistics chain, responsible for transporting goods over the road (OTR) routes, handling hazardous materials when necessary, and maintaining excellent customer service with every delivery.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate commercial trucks including tractor-trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and refrigerated trailers across long-distance OTR routes.
- Load and unload freight using manual handling techniques or equipment such as forklifts when required.
- Navigate routes efficiently using GPS navigation systems to meet delivery schedules while adhering to DOT (Department of Transportation) and FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations.
- Transport hazardous materials and dangerous goods following all hazardous materials regulations and safety protocols.
- Ensure proper truck loading and unloading procedures are followed to maintain cargo integrity and safety standards.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, deliveries, and vehicle inspections in compliance with DOT regulations.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections before and after trips to identify maintenance needs or safety issues.
Skills
- Valid CDL A license with clean driving record; experience with manual transmission preferred.
- Strong knowledge of truck driving regulations including FMCSA, DOT, hazardous materials regulations, and safety standards.
- Experience with refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, or dump trucks is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in GPS navigation systems for route planning and real-time adjustments.
- Skilled in truck loading/unloading, cargo handling, and logistics operations involving freight movement.
- Ability to handle manual handling tasks safely and efficiently during load & unload processes.
- Familiarity with delivery driving procedures for various types of freight including hazardous or dangerous goods.
