What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mortgage Loan Originator Assistant position at SRP FEDERAL CREDIT UNION?

Summary:
Develop relationships and solicits business from referral partners such as realtors, builders, credit union colleagues, attorneys and CPAs. Assess customer needs and recommend appropriate mortgage products. Act as primary contact for members through loan closing.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for selling and cross-selling Credit Union services to current and potential members. Credit Union services are to be promoted using the "member benefit-based approach".
- Fully complies with the requirements of all Credit Union policies, including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and OFAC Policies.
- Expected to originate and close the minimum monthly volume goals as established in the Mortgage Loan Originator Compensation and Performance Agreement.
- Provide information, advice, and assistance to members concerning real estate and consumer programs, budget counseling, consolidations, and loan extensions offered by SRP Federal Credit Union.
- Establish a strong presence for SRP Federal Credit Union including but not limited to, developing relationships with realtors, builders, and community groups.
- Attend various luncheons and events to raise referral source awareness of SRP Federal Credit Union’s mortgage products and services.
- Responsible for taking loan applications and disclosing all terms and conditions within regulation timelines.
- Communicate clearly with members on the progress of their loan application.
- Pull credit reports for members and reconcile the credit report with the application.
- Maintain working knowledge of mortgage software – loan processing procedures and requirements.
- Assist in the development and updating of new mortgage programs, processing methods, and forms.
- Maintain mortgage loan inventory indicating the status of applicants submitted to SRP Federal Credit Union.
- Keep abreast of the local real estate market and industry operational changes. Recommends SRP Federal Credit Union mortgage loan policy changes.
- Assist management in planning and implementing marketing ideas and sales tactics to obtain new members.
- May be assigned other tasks by appropriate line supervision.

Qualifications:
License Requirements:
Requirements of the position include successful registration with the National Mortgage Licensing System and Registry to obtain a unique NMLS identifier. This includes, but is not limited to, successfully passing a criminal background check; a positive review of the individual’s credit reports; and a demonstration of financial responsibility, character, and general fitness that warrants a determination that they will operate honestly, fairly, and efficiently. This position requires that the NMLS registration be successfully renewed annually and in accordance with the requirements of the S.A.F.E. Act and any implementing regulations and guidelines.
Education and/or Experience:
High School or at least two years’ experience as a mortgage loan originator with a record of success in building networks of community contacts to support loan volume goals.
Other Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and ability to perform the industry-related analysis required.
- Strong selling and communication skills.
- A good working knowledge of all aspects of real estate lending, including knowledge of all applicable laws, regulations, and programs.
- Proven ability to develop sources of mortgage loan application business.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should know Microsoft Office software including Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook Email /Calendar, and Internet Explorer software. Experience with Encompass system preferred.
