Summary:
Under the direction of the AVP, Mortgage Division, the Closing Manager is responsible
for overseeing the mortgage closing department. A certain level of creativity and
latitude is required. Rely on previous experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
Performs a variety of tasks and supervise other employees with little or no direct supervision from a
manager. The Closing Manager should ensure loans are within compliance
with Credit Union and FNMA/FHLMC, government loan and secondary market policies and
procedures. Ensures that approval falls within the established lending guidelines and consistently monitors reports for team inconsistencies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for selling and cross-selling Credit Union services to current and potential
members. Credit Union services are to be promoted using the "member benefit-based approach".
• Fully complies with the requirements of all Credit Union policies, including but not limited to
the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act and OFAC Policies.
• Manages Mortgage Closers require employee selection, orientation, promotion
and performance evaluations, salary administration, counseling, disciplining and termination of
employees under his/her management.
• Selects and manages a staff of mortgage professionals, keeping them fully trained, to produce high
quality mortgage loans with accurate documentation, and ensuring that all applicable loan policies
and procedures are administered uniformly.
• Responsible for the loan performance for portfolio loans and loans sold on the secondary market.
• Ensures loans close in a timely manner, meeting rate locks, contract and other deadlines.
• Anticipate issues and/or problems that could impact loan approval and provide solutions using
a pro-active approach.
• Guides the Mortgage Closing Team to satisfy all conditions when received from
Underwriter prior to closing.
• Ensures the loan is within Credit Union, FNMA/FHLMC, government loan and secondary
market guidelines and pass all audit and compliance checks.
• Oversee SRP mortgage loan products that include Fixed Rate Conventional, Home
Equity, Fixed Rate Home Equity, ARM, Manufactured Homes with land, and Lot/Land loans.
• Continually helps develop Conventional, FHA, VA, and USDA programs to meet Member needs.
• Provide input to Loan Committee as required.
• Maintains knowledge and ensures maintenance and accuracy of all governmental and SRPFCU
software.
• Maintain good lines of communication with all SRP approved secondary market sources (FNMA,
FHLMC, Investors, etc.)
• Assist implementing new procedures/protocols.
Assist managing the pipeline. (i.e) assist processors/closers with files that are intricate and need
extra attention due to nature of the file, assist processors/closers with their pipeline in their
absence, or assist in any overflow.
• Acts as a source of information for the Mortgage Processing and Closing team as needed.
• May be assigned other tasks by appropriate line management.
Growth Strategy Development:
- Works closely with the other managers within the Mortgage Department to continually analyze the needs of the department and develop more effective solutions to meet our members’ needs.
Market Expansion & Member Experience Initiatives:

Supervisory Responsibilities
The Mortgage Closers will report directly to this position.
Manager responsibilities should be in accordance with organization’s policies, procedures,
and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees, planning,
assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree, 6 years or more related mortgage experience required; or equivalent combination
of education and experience.
• Must work well in a fast-paced environment and be able to adapt to change.
• Show initiative, multi-task and possess good organizational skills.
• Possess interpersonal skills to communicate with customers, vendors, and fellow employees in a
professional manner always.
• Knowledge of guidelines and procedures for FHA, VA and Conventional loan products
• Experience with the loan originations system, Encompass, is a plus.
Technical Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office software
including Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook Email/Calendar, and Internet Explorer software. Experience with Encompass, Mortgage Servicer, and/or Episys Quest system preferred.
