Overview
A leading defense technology innovator is seeking a System on Chip Architect to lead the design, development, and fabrication of a secure RISC V ASIC System on Chip. This role is ideal for an experienced ASIC architect who has taken an ASIC from concept to fabrication and can drive cross functional hardware and software teams. Your work will support secure computing for national defense and critical US infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a cross functional engineering team including hardware, software, and verification specialists in designing and delivering a secure RISC V based ASIC SoC.
- Translate an existing RTL codebase into a production ready ASIC using industry standard methodologies including RTL finalization, synthesis, place and route, and verification.
- Serve as the primary technical interface with internal engineering groups, subcontractors, and early pilot customers.
- Define and maintain the microarchitecture specification including performance, IO, power consumption, area utilization, recurring cost, and security features.
- Develop and manage a complete verification strategy including testbench architecture, functional verification, performance verification, and coverage metrics.
- Ensure highest probability of first pass silicon success by overseeing verification planning and execution.
- Evaluate and integrate emerging ASIC design technologies and methodologies when beneficial.
- Build and manage a product roadmap aligned with market needs and competitive advantages.
- Break down the product plan into actionable engineering tasks and manage design reviews and milestones.
- Identify and coordinate external partners for development, marketing, and long term sustainment.
Required Qualifications
- Must be a US Citizen.
- BS or higher in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
- More than 8 years of ASIC design and architecture experience.
- Proven experience designing and fabricating at least one ASIC.
- Strong proficiency in RTL coding using Verilog or VHDL.
- Deep understanding of processor architectures including RISC V or similar.
- Hands on experience with ASIC design flows including RTL synthesis, place and route, timing closure, and EDA tools.
- Experience with verification methodologies such as UVM and SystemVerilog.
- Ability to lead cross functional teams across design, verification, hardware, and software.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills with a hands on approach.
Preferred Qualifications
- Active or recently active US Security Clearance.
- Strong understanding of microprocessor markets and processor architecture trends.
- Knowledge of applied cryptography and cybersecurity concepts.
- Experience applying cybersecurity principles to embedded or operational technology systems.
Pay: $200,000.00 - $300,000.00 per year
