Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Set-Up Technician II to support thermoforming and extrusion operations in a high-volume plastics manufacturing environment. The Set-Up Technician II ensures optimum machine performance, high run efficiency, and consistent product quality. This role is responsible for performing accurate mold set-ups, start-ups, troubleshooting, and supporting production activities such as packing, assembly, and shrink wrapping. This is an onsite, third-shift position.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform all responsibilities of a Set-Up Technician I
- Complete accurate and efficient mold set-ups and machine start-ups
- Monitor part quality and complete First Article forms
- Manage material systems and coordinate silo changes
- Monitor mechanical systems for proper operation
- Troubleshoot processing issues and implement corrective actions
- Monitor scrap levels and adjust processes to meet department KPIs
- Execute production plans based on schedule priorities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet departmental goals
- Complete daily production transactions in AS400 and Mattec
- Support packing, shrink wrapping, and assembly tasks
- Maintain consistent and reliable attendance
- Follow all safety procedures and use required PPE
- Maintain housekeeping standards in assigned areas
- Train employees as needed
- Support quality standards and report issues promptly

Required Qualifications
- US Citizen or Green Card Holder
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 1 to 3 years of experience in plastic injection or mold operations
- At least 2 years of experience performing mold set-ups and start-ups
- Ability to understand documented run parameters for molds and materials
- Technical aptitude for processing, troubleshooting, and machine operation
- Ability to work 3rd shift and overtime as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- One or more years of experience in thermoforming or extrusion setup
- Knowledge of plastics materials such as ABS, PET, PP, HDPE
- Experience with thermoforming molds, tooling, and heating or cooling parameters
- Familiarity with Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement practices
- Basic understanding of SPC or other quality systems
- Experience using AS400, Mattec, or similar systems
- Basic computer skills (Excel, email, production documentation)
