Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Clinical Engineering Manager II to oversee the operations of a large, multi-site Clinical Engineering Department. The ideal candidate will lead a high-performing team responsible for maintaining medical equipment, improving lifecycle management, reducing overall maintenance costs, and ensuring full compliance with safety and regulatory standards. This role requires strong leadership, financial management, and extensive experience within hospital-based clinical engineering.
Key Responsibilities
Department & Program Leadership
- Oversee day-to-day clinical engineering operations across multiple acute care facilities
- Conduct quarterly site visits and department head meetings
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, Joint Commission, and hospital regulatory guidelines
- Maintain all program performance indicators at or above targets
- Lead program growth by building strong relationships with clinical department heads and administrators
Financial & Operational Management
- Ensure PM and CM completion rates meet program requirements
- Manage annual expense budgets, cost containment strategies, and financial performance
- Support capital asset planning, equipment purchasing, and committee participation
- Review and process POs, invoices, and financial documentation in a timely manner
- Actively analyze parts spend, contract usage, and outside service costs to meet equipment value ratio goals
Staff Management
- Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate technical staff
- Provide measurable objectives and ongoing performance reviews
- Coordinate staffing schedules, including vacations and sick leave
- Support professional development and training across multiple sites
Communication & Reporting
- Maintain consistent communication with administrators at all facilities
- Provide weekly reports and escalate critical feedback to the Division Director
- Maintain clear documentation regarding customer and vendor communications
High-End Modality Oversight
- Oversee service strategy for high-end imaging equipment including CT, MRI, Radiation Therapy, and Cath Labs
- Identify and support technical staff capable of maintaining high-end equipment
- Utilize available vendor agreements and service-level options to reduce cost
Large Account Requirements
This position manages:
- Three or more acute care facilities
- A combined inventory of more than 13,500 pieces of equipment
- Inventory value exceeding 110 million USD
- Operating budgets above 4.75 million USD
- More than 11 technicians and support staff
Qualifications
Required:
- Associate degree in a related field
- Minimum five years of experience as a Clinical Engineering Manager in a hospital setting
- Strong financial management skills
- Working knowledge of clinical engineering programs and industry standards
- Valid driver’s license
- Availability for rotational on-call schedule
Preferred:
- Bachelor degree
- CBET or CHTM certification
Pay: $120,000.00 - $160,000.00 per year
