Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Automated Machine Operator to join our production team. This role involves setting up, operating, and maintaining automated machinery used in the manufacturing of flooring trim products. The ideal candidate has a strong mechanical background, hands-on experience with CNC or automated systems, and a commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor automated machines for cutting, profiling, trimming, wrapping, and packaging flooring products.
- Set up equipment for production runs, including tooling changes, calibration, and product parameter input.
- Verify material setup and inspect finished goods to ensure adherence to dimensional and visual quality standards.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and process-related issues to minimize downtime.
- Perform basic maintenance and coordinate with maintenance technicians for complex repairs.
- Accurately complete production documentation including batch records, downtime logs, and quality check reports.
- Conduct routine preventive maintenance tasks such as cleaning, lubrication, and inspection of machine components.
- Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to resolve process issues and improve efficiency.
- Follow company safety policies including PPE requirements and lockout/tagout procedures.
- Train and support junior operators to maintain consistent production standards.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities (Lean, 5S, Kaizen).
Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum 5 years of experience operating automated or CNC-controlled machinery in a manufacturing setting.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with basic electrical troubleshooting ability.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and machine operation manuals.
- Skilled in using measurement tools such as calipers, gauges, and tape measures.
- Experience performing machine setup, calibration, and tooling changes.
- Commitment to safety and quality standards.
- Ability to stand for long periods (8–12 hours) and lift up to 50 lbs.
- U.S. Citizenship required (no sponsorship or relocation).
Preferred:
- Technical or vocational certification in manufacturing, machining, or industrial maintenance.
- Experience in flooring, building materials, wood products, or extrusion manufacturing.
- Exposure to ISO 9001 / Quality Management Systems.
- Familiarity with HMI (Human-Machine Interface) systems and basic computer literacy.
- Preventive maintenance experience and ability to train junior operators.
- Involvement in process improvement initiatives.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Standing and operating machinery for extended shifts (8–12 hours).
- Regular bending, reaching, and repetitive motion.
- Lifting and moving materials up to 50 lbs.
- Work performed in a manufacturing setting with exposure to noise, dust, and temperature variations.
